Job Description Temporary Full- Time Position 

 

Description:

 

Criminal and Immigration firm Cruise Law Group is a small boutique firm, located at 1842 N Alafaya Trl. Ste. C Orlando, Florida that is looking for three Immigration/Criminal paralegals needed on a temporary full-time basis to offset the firm’s recent influx in clientele due to recent changes by the new Administration and mass deportations future employees with a contingent job offer become available. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proficient understanding of the various pathways of Immigration to the United States in addition to an in depth understanding of Florida Criminal Law practices and protocols. This role involves significant interaction with clients, government agencies, and legal teams to ensure that all necessary documents and applications are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

Provide clients with comprehensive updates on case progress. Schedule Consultations for Attorneys. File documents with local, state, or federal courts (e.g., motions, notices of hearing, discovery responses). Prepare exhibits, evidence binders, and trial notebooks for attorneys.

Coordinate the filing and service of court documents and ensure all deadlines are met. Prepare case files for deposition and Court proceedings. Prepare affidavits, client declarations, and other supporting documents for immigration filings. Collect and maintain confidential information regarding client’s case and applications. Draft motions for criminal court. Assist in the preparation and filing of immigration petitions, including applications for naturalization, family-based petitions (I-130), employment-based visas (H-1B, EB2 etc.), and green card applications (I-485).Conduct research related to immigration laws, regulations, and case precedents to assist the attorney in providing accurate legal advice, and preparing an appropriate defense, where applicable. Prepare research memorandums for the attorney on specific immigration issues.

Stay updated on changes in immigration law and policy, including changes to visa eligibility, work permits, and other immigration-related processes. Stay updated in changes to Florida Criminal law, U.S. Supreme Court Precedent cases applicable in Florida and Florida constitutional Criminal procedure as articulated by the Florida Supreme Court.

 

Requirements: 

 

Must have a minimum of an associate’s degree and a minimum of at least 6 months of experience working as an Immigration/Criminal legal assistant.

 

 

Worksite Location: 

 

All work will be conducted in person at the Orlando office, located at 1842N Alafaya Trl. Ste. C Orlando, Florida 32826. Ph: 407-674-8822. The selected candidates will be required to drive or take public transportation and should consider residing in or around the East Orlando area. Workers are responsible for daily transportation to and from the worksite. 

 

 

Terms and Conditions of Employment, Wage Offer and Availability of Overtime Pay.: 

 

Candidate will be paid no less than $27.53 per hour on a 40-hour work week, scheduled Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.  Returning workers and workers with more experience may be paid higher wage of $30.00 per hour. Overtime hours may vary, depending on workload and case availability. Overtime hours will be compensated at $41.29 per hour for all hours worked over 40 each week. Cruise Law Group will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due, workers will be paid on Friday (Bi-weekly) by direct deposit. All deductions required by law will be made from your paycheck. 

 

Supervision and Training:

 

All Prospective employees to report to Managing Attorney and Associate Attorney for guidance, task assignment. The employer will provide on-the-job training in the proper use of legal software, and jurisdictional court systems. 

 

Reimbursement at First Work Week:

 

The selected candidate will be reimbursed in the first week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (except passport fees). All supplies and equipment required to complete job duties will be provided by Cruise Law Group at no cost to workers. 

 

Provision of Tools: 

 

Cruise Law Group will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job. 

 

Employer’s 3/4th Guarantee:

 

Pursuant to 20 CFR 655.20(f) The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. 

 

 

 

Early Termination or Completed need of Employment: 

Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, Cruise Law Group will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $40.00 p/day during travel to a maximum of $60.00 p/day with receipts.
